The Grooves formed in 1991 and immediately rose to the top of Houston country bands with their huge song selection, authentic sound and performances, and ability to “play to the crowd” switching styles and genres to keep the dance floor packed and the energy of the party hopping all night long. Proper song selection is the key to keeping the dance floor packed and the audience tuned in all night. With a 200 plus list of songs to choose from, we know precisely what your audience wants to hear from moment to moment. We even recommend the host request a few songs so they feel comfortable with the performance their party is dancing for. For some variety, we’ll throw in a few songs here and there from other genres so the crowd gets the most out of their night. The Grooves can mix it up with songs from genres such as Reggae, Motown, reggae, swing, latin, soul music, r&b and pop.
Staged in accordance with the evening’s agenda, The Groove’s performance is highly flexible. We usually start off with slower songs during cocktail or dinner hour at a lower volume so everyone can enjoy their conversations, then crank up the tempo with full throttle, high energy entertainment that focuses on audience interaction and a packed dance floor. The Grooves engage the audience with sing-a-longs and line dancing while playing a series of rehearsed transitions and medleys.
The Grooves bring the best quality sound and lighting production that excels above and beyond the expectations of event planners and audience alike. With wireless microphones for the singers, a state of the art mixing console and digital drum set, we provide the best in quality sound that suits the acoustic needs of any room the party is in.
The Groove’s attire consists of whatever kind of dress code the event requires that night. The band can dress up in full country attire for the Texas country atmosphere your event needs or in Tuxedos for the guys and the finest upscale garments for the gals in the band. If the coordinator is looking for something in between then we can mix it up with our personal favorite outfit, the Texas Tuxedo, with Tux shirts, vests, boots and blue jeans. We’ll of course top it off with cowboy hats and we know everyone will have that good ol’ fashion Texas size party!

The Grooves suits your party’s desires by being customizable according to what size band you need for your event. The band’s size fills the stage by consisting of between 4 and 10 members. For a basic 4-piece band, we provide lead female vocals, lead and backup male vocals, guitarist, bassist and drummer with only 4 people. The Grooves pull out all the stops with our larger scale performances by providing 3 radiant female vocalists, 3 male vocalists who also play guitar, bass and tenor sax, with a baritone sax player, trumpet player, trombone player, and one outstanding drummer that keeps the engine revved up all night long. The Grooves insist on keeping your dance floor packed with young and old country fans the entire night.
